So for this free your space friday lets tackle the crayons and markers!!!  I am coming off a long year of homeschooling and have been challenged to clear out the art supplies starting with the crayons and markers and colored pencils.  Take 5 to throw out markers with no caps, caps with no markers and broken crayons.  crayons

You can reuse the broken crayons! Chop them up into little pieces, put them into mini muffin tins and bake them in the oven! Even combine colors to make multi-colored crayons! You could have the kids fill the muffin trays with the broken pieces. There’s more info here: http://www.wikihow.com/Reuse-Broken-Crayons

PS I recently found this blog and I’m so thankful for all your helpful tips and more importantly, your heart for the Lord!

You can also use the broken crayons to make “stained glass” artwork. Draw a simple shape on a piece of wax paper (we like butterflies), chop up the crayons and fill the shape with color! Then place another sheet of wax paper on top. Put on the ironing board with a piece of paper towel (or a dish towel) over the wax paper and iron gently until the crayons melt. Cut out the shape and hang around the house!

If you’re like me, we get so many crayons (broken and not) that pile up that I end up throwing away a bunch of them, but there are a lot of fun “broken crayon” activities, too! :)
