Beautiful Work

Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands…. Psalm 90:17a

So how is your December… December 12, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Gretchen @ 9:19 am

I have had the kind of December that makes me glad I shop all year for stocking stuffers and other presents.  I approached this Christmas season hoping for a quiet time of peace and leading my family through reflection of our great Savior but my plans were quickly thwarted :)  It all started during Thanksgiving break when Francesca was diagnosed with a double ear infection and pink eye.  Then Natalia fell ill.  And then it hit me… 4 days of a fever between 100 and 104.  I had a sinus infection and kidney infection.  When I was over the fever pink eye set in and an ear ache.  I have been sick for over a week now and just as I emerge from my fog to a mountain of laundry, school work to catch up on, events to get out of and cleaning to do Lukas is now sick in bed with something similar.  This is the time of year when people are getting together sharing cookies and great food and we are at home just trying to keep our toast down :)  While this is not what I planned for our holidays, I am so reminded of what a blessing my husband and kiddos are during these times.   I do not know what the rest of December holds but I do know that the Lord is definetly helping me to sit and listen.

  1. Christa Says:

Gretchen, don’t worry (which I know you’re not :)) – we are not eating cookies without you or having dlightful festivities. We watched the Holidazzle parade on TV, left the Christmas bins in storage – except for our prelit tree, stockings, one garland, one nativity. And I’m not sad — mostly just relieved because I don’t have a the time or energy anyway:) I’m even contemplating take-out on Christmas Eve :)
