Tent/Cave – throw a blanket over something and pretend to camp or be bears
Parade – everyone loves parade music (at least if you aren’t the one playing it for hours) … find some marching tunes (we just happen to have a whole CD of them!) and crank the music while you pretend to play instruments
Get out ‘new’ toys – I’ve taken to doing a toy rotation (there are too many to have out all at once!) The kids think it’s great to clean up and put toys away in the closet or bin (take the time to find all the parts that go to something before putting it away) and get out ‘new’ toys!
Cardboard boxes – you can make many a thing out of a card board box! And even if you don’t want to make something, the kids love just crawling in and out of the big ones anyways! This year I made a pirate ship for Sammy’s bday party and since then it’s been in the basement to play with. We’ve made a fire truck too … those Costco milk boxes are great!
Well, my list isn’t as thorough as I’d like it to be, but I’m glad that I got at least something typed up Monday during the day! On Monday night I had a run-in with Zoe’s finger nail in one of our blanket tents, so I am just now able to sit down at the computer again. :( Watch out for those flying fingers while you are playing … eye injuries hurt and there isn’t much to be done about them besides waiting. Looking at our weather forcast here for the next week (it’s ALL rain!) I am glad to have a few more creative ideas to do with the kids! Happy indoor playing!
